Artist Statement Dancing Willow Healing Arts HYDESVILLE
Anita Tavernier MA CMT, former South Bronx High School Teacher now massage therapist, hospital volunteer, photographer, mother, digital media artist, and watercolorist, has had her work featured widely in the local art scene over the last few years. The Misty Mermaid is known for work which features a watery theme whether a serene coastal scene from her many trips to The Big Island of Hawaii, dynamic crashing waves and surfers, or vibrant sea life from more local shores. Her digital media features unique images in brilliant color often evolving from floral photos that have been morphed into abstracts. Last is her self developed process of digitally enhanced watercolor paintings. Anita has an eye for composition and color both of which contribute to the feeling and emotion in her work. “ This,” she explains “is just another facet of Dancing Willow Healing Arts.”
